Michaela Hahn who is the Head of Music Association for Lower Austria, spent some time with Jamael Dean while he was visiting Austria. Here is what she had to say about the experience.
“Exchange experiences are essential for young people. The Joe Zawinul Award is a great chance for young musicians, not only to get to know another country and its culture, but also its musical diversity. Jameal Dean’s visit greatly enriched the Youth Jazz Orchestra, with whom he played as a soloist, as well as the Austrian winner, who accompanied him throughout most of his trip. Hopefully Jamael felt equally inspired, both as a musician and person.”
